Now that would be a very rough way to come to America. This book gives a lot of history in a very interesting way. It talks about John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Ben Franklin.

If you grew up in the 70's & 80's, it's a fun trip down memory lane as well. I seldom find a book that can keep my interest.... I couldn't put this one down. Reading this book I thought "someone secretly put up cameras inside my home and wrote a book all about me" ..... and the laughing out loud that comes with the trip down memory lane, loving it. This author needs to write another book so I have something to read.

Authors Patricia Goodspeed and Diana Orem breathed life into their characters. I was quickly drawn into the plot, watching as it unfolded before me. At the front of the book there is a list of characters along with the role they play in this tale. There are quite a few characters and the list was helpful. The authors have included twists and turns that will keep readers eagerly turning the pages to see what would happen next. Murder On Persimmon Lane is a delightful mystery; readers will find it entertaining. This is the type of mystery you want to read on a cold snowy day curled up with a cup of tea in front of a warm fire for once you start reading you will not want to lay it down. There is a Christian undercurrent to this tale, it is not in your face or preachy nor does it distract from the mystery in any way. Murder On Persimmon Lane is a good, clean book without foul language. I highly recommend Murder On persimmon Lane.

Not a needed read, but can be fun in small doses By Shawn Winigman I picked up the companion books to the Convergence event to hopefully learn more about the upcoming DC titles that will spin out of the event. What I got was more in line with a book similar to DC vs. Marvel.Each story is told in two issues. The first issue traditionally giving a quick view of how the main character(s) are coping with the dome, followed by the second issue where combat occurs between the main character(s) and character(s) from other timelines/cities from other domes.Each book has followed a formula that has been relatively consistent.1) Main character(s) seen 1 year into living under the dome, functioning without powers.2) Entity that captured character(s) spends multiple panels giving a speech (identical to speech in Convergence when domes lifted).3) Main character(s) (traditionally) questions morality of destroying another city to preserve theirs.4) Other city attacks main character(s).5) Either the fight stops opting to be friends or someone is defeated leaving the main character(s) city ok.The one part I like about these books is seeing old characters or fringe characters again that haven’t been seen in decades. I just wish they weren’t so predictable and really gave us better background or development of the characters (there is a section in the end that gives a small explanation of the main character(s)).

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Quirky little read By G Ramsey The Dragon of Butter is a quirky little read and yet another excellent short story from Ms Ormiston-Smith. She is one of the most versatile writers I’ve come across, and I’ve found every one of her books able to transport me into their characters’ worlds. Her imagery is fantastic. In this, I could almost smell the hay, dung and cheese because the writing style had a theatrical quality about it. That said, it was coupled with impeccable comedy timing, which I’ve come to expect from Ms Ormiston-Smith’s work.This story is an account of how Sir Leopold de Draco-Butyris was elevated to the rank of Baronet. I loved the characters’ names, such as Buttercup and Daisy. They conjure images of a big old dairy-fest! But that’s what this writer does. It’s the little things throughout that she makes use of, like the charming dialogue in this one, which help you fall for the characters and their situation. For me, The Dragon of Butter had almost a cartoon quality to it, and I loved that. It didn’t take me long to read. In fact, it was just what I needed for my tea break, but I would highly recommend it.

I fell in love with her work when I met Fiona in Dance of Chaos and Gift of Continence. In The Dragon of Butter, this talented writer brings to us a tale of a not-so gracious princess, her anxious father, King Yarrow, and a whole host of nitwits, fools and self-opinionated folk.How does a King marry off his reluctant daughter? How does a sculptor bring about a truck of butter at short notice? How does a mere smith’s apprentice rise to the lofty station of Baronet and marry his heart’s desire?If you need to find the answer to these questions (and who could blame you), read on - It’s hysterical, amusing and a delight to read.
