Im the author's brother, sadly he passed away on may 10th. The book was released today may 18th. He left behind a wife and 8 year old daughter. By Rody I am on page 86 and I wanted to stop now and write a review of what I've read so far... I heard about this book through a friend of mine who knows I like Marilyn Monroe and her friend or cousin was a friend of the author... This book has taken real people in history but the story is fiction...although the book chronologically follows things that happened in history there's no way any reasonable person could believe all these personal conversations between the people in the book...Since I wasn't made aware of this before I purchased the book I was expecting it to be a true story about her life so I'm a little disappointed so far but I will continue reading it... Having said that and approaching the book from that point of view you will most likely enjoy reading it!

It gives the reader a very personal glimpse into the life of Marilyn Monroe. The author was a good friend and passed the week before the book came out. He will be very missed. Please check it out. He has an 8 year old daughter and wife that will definitely appreciate your purchase.

About the Author Edward Glover was born in London in 1943. After gaining a history degree followed by an MPhil at Birkbeck College, London University, he embarked on a career in the British diplomatic service, during which his overseas postings included Washington DC, Berlin, Brussels and the Caribbean. He subsequently advised on foreign ministry reform in post-invasion Iraq, Kosovo and Sierra Leone. More recently, for seven years he headed a one-million-acre rainforest-conservation project in South America, on behalf of the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Guyana Government.With an interest in 16th- and 18th-century history, baroque music and 18th-century art, Edward was encouraged by the purchase of two paintings and a passport to try his hand at writing historical fiction. His first title The Music Book is a story of intrigue, betrayal, revenge, death and redemption, set in 18th-century Europe.Edward and his wife, former Foreign & Commonwealth Office lawyer and leading international human rights adviser Dame Audrey Glover, now live in Norfolk, a place that gives him further inspiration for his writing. A strange code in an old yearbook leads to further clues.The realism in these mysteries is no accident--the author was a private detective in New Jersey during the 1950s and knows a good deal about crime solving. For me, that makes it an intriguing book!

The daily passages were not too long or so in depth as take away from regular Bible study. This will make a nice gift for yourself or anyone who has ever been deployed overseas in the military or as a contractor. There are enough references to Afghanistan and life in a war zone to jog fond memories and laughable moments without drudging up details one would prefer to forget.Day 25 was very personal and relate-able..nothing like a long lost sibling showing up on your door to throw things off in the family.Get the book you will enjoy it!

Pastor Moffett's descriptions of his surroundings painted a picture which took me back to Kandahar Airfield made me thankful for surviving my tour of duty. It is real, it is powerful, and it is moving. I cried, I laughed, I wanted to hug everybody that I loved and I did not want to put the book down. If you are looking for an inspiration, you will find it inside these pages. It encourages the reader to confront his/her own strengths, to reach outwardly with love and to be of service to others. This book completely opened my eyes to the need for help for foster care and drug addiction in our country. Thankfully the children in this book had a family member step forward for them but there are so many out there that don't have that. About the Author Ann Elwood lives in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California, with six cats, a desert tortoise, seven box turtles, and a German shepherd, Louis. She grew up in Saddle River, New Jersey. After college, she taught elementary school for a few miserable years, then moved to the Philadelphia area and landed a job as a typist-clerk at the Philadelpha Bulletin. When her boss discovered she had difficulty typing up circulation figures with twelve carbons, she was fired and found another job writing copy for a paternalistic insurance company that offered a low salary and delicious free lunch. One of the typesetters had the magical ability to square up a stack of paper into a perfect cube. Eventually she moved to a studio apartment on Irving Place in New York City, and, after a few months of writing copy for a textbook company, went on to freelance as a writer of anything anyone would pay her for. In 1967, she moved to Los Angeles, where she was advertising manager for a publishing company. Then the West Coast was a mecca for writers and adventurers. Within a couple of years, she visited a Malibu beach house, fell in love (long-distance) with Bob Dylan, met Thomas Pynchon (he wouldn’t remember it), and saw Hair. In 1972, she returned to freelancing. The following year she moved to Cardiff. She wrote articles for Irving Wallace and his son, David Wallichinsky, (People’s Almanac and Book of Lists), and did other wonderful things she won’t mention here. With Carol Orsag Madigan, she wrote several non-fiction books. A desire to delve more deeply into ideas finally drove her to graduate school in 1981. Her dissertation focused on an order of 17th and 18th century French nuns so she had to spend a happy year in France doing research. While not in the archives, she drank local wine with fellow historians and traveled the country with her dog, Puppy, who had far less trouble than she did communicating with the French. Now, she teaches history part-time at California State University, San Marcos, spends time with Louis and the other animals, and writes the books she has always wanted to write but never had the time for.

Ann Elwood's "Out Of Stone" is only the latest in a collection of works by this author. In today's book world, it is hard to find a selection of stories that meet many needs. Dr. Elwood's work includes novels, novellas and short stories that provide an interesting selection. The opportunity to find work of this caliber is not easy in today's publishing world. Again, let me recommend that you read this book.

A gentle but perceptive story with great characters By Book lover Wonderful insight into human nature, characters that are unique and flawed yet draw us to care deeply about them. This is the first story of Ann Elwood's that I've read but won 't be the last. She shows deep understanding, wisdom, feeling and compassion for her characters who have all been affected in different ways by The Great War in Europe. Interesting to me as a Brit to have an American perspective on it. Her writing is impeccable, literary and I haven't read such a great story in a long time.

After patiently plodding through the majority of the book, expected a better explanation of what the Unknown were after, how women tied into it, what about/how the cabin (appeared) to keep evil at bay, etc. Although I found this book just okay, I hope the author keeps writing & developing his skills...
