I would play with my pencils and make origami when the teacher wasn’t looking. I would look out the window and imagine I was somewhere else. I wanted to go home and build cities in the sand pile. The kids at school would always smash the cities at the playground. If I had been born twenty years later, I suppose I would have been labeled with “Dyslexia” and maybe “Asperger’s Syndrome.” In the right school, they may have even called me “gifted.” But in the 1980s, kids like me were considered “immature” and were called “daydreamers.” We became failures and were required to repeat whatever grades we couldn’t pass. I told my teachers that I was going to be a mom and an artist, like my mom, so why should I even go to school? I was fourteen when I finally talked my parents into homeschooling me. That was when the woods became my classroom. That was when I fell in love with life and learning. That was when I met Josh. That was when the sky became my ceiling."

With my 7yo recently being diagnosed with dyslexia I wanted more answers. i figure since Sarah Janisse Brown and 3 of her 10 children have dyslexia she would have the answers that I need.And while she might, but this book did not answer those questions. Instead, this book took me on a faith journey. It challenged my level of surrender to God, It made me re-evaluate just how serious I took my relationship with Him, and so much more.I have more highlighted phrases, underlined verses, and prayers in this book than any of my other reviews. God used this book to get me face-to-face with Him and His calling on my life! I was reminded that He will take care of every single detail! When He gives you a promise, command, or calling He will provide all of the details that go along with it!I cannot say enough good things about this book! Even if you or anyone in your family doesn't have dyslexia, this book still is a gem that you need to read! You will see a level of faith in Sarah that will challenge you and cause you to believe deeper, and desire to grow more in your relationship with God.There is humor there too! Stories of her and her children that will make you laugh, and wonder how she does it all!

There are a few chapters added with the last entry being June 15.This is a beautifully written love story. Not only her love for her husband but for life, dyslexia, her children, she also as a love for others. Her love for sharing God's Word.And oh the many places Sarah as been and the careers she's had :)This is a great read and I'm thrilled my daughter wants to read it too. We will have many discussions about her book.I think I'll add it to her health class!

By Catherine Elizabeth We own all the Baby Blues books. The parents & kids in the strip are funny because they're grounded in the loud, smelly, dirty, loving, sleepless, happy reality of having & raising children. The strips are mostly outright hilarious. They are sometimes poignant, but never sappy or preachy. There is no overarching "soap opera" filled with angst, as is found in many similar strips. These strips are just fun, funny, funniest. Our elementary-age son loves them, also.

Once again a Baby Blues collection packed with laughs By Stargazer Mom As always, the Baby Blues comic strip shows the hysterically funny ups and downs of parenting. As a mother of three, I have to laugh at the crazy things the MacPherson kids do and say...some of them are all too familiar. Zoe, Hammie and Wren do an excellent job of keeping their parents Wanda and Darryl on their toes. A great book...a funny one...I hope baby Blues continues for a long time.

Salinger. Rimler's dry ironic wit and gentle humor informs every page. Theses stories are perfectly crafted and exude intelligence and subtlety on every page. Admittedly it is hard to generalize because the four stories are so different. Rimler's stories are so gentle and whimsical that they are utterly seductive. There is no way not to love them nor to stop reading them.. The only thing wrong with Walter Rimler's writing is that there isn't more of it.The fact that Walter Rimler's writings are here on Amazon rather than at the top of the NYT best sellers list shows both that publishing is intellectually bankrupt (e.g. repeatedly rejecting JK Rowling, Steven King, many others.). And yet, the fact that Walter Rimler's writing can be found here on line shows that the internet provides a way around the dolts in the publishing business.

By Mark Willie Even though we're still in our honeymood period and only been married for a year, I grabbed this book to see if there is something new I can surprise my wifey with on our 1st Anniversary on the 18th of March. This book explains the importance of sex in a relationship and about non-sexual bonding which is really important too. There are some great sex positions for beginners and some expert ones too. Good book!

Good enough story but not amazing. I liked it but it dragged a little too much for me to fully love it.The thing I liked the most in this book is how it follows the brothers Nebamun and Iramen, who are embalmers in 1324 B.C. and it also follows two different brothers, Abdul and Karim, who are graverobbers in 1874 A.D. I've always loved stories with parallels like this. People who know me know that I'm crazy about anything involving ancient Egypt but weirdly enough I liked the chapters in 1874 the most for some reason.Another thing I liked was how this book wasn't about ancien Egypt's royalty like most stories involving this age are about. Sure, Tutankhamun was mentioned but he wasn't the focus of the story. It was more about common people than anything else.The writing was pretty enjoyable, even though I sometimes thought it all dragged a little. The details were vivid and fascinating to me, especially the embalming process because I never really read a lot about that. At least not in fictional stories.All in All, Luxor: Book of Past Lives wasn't bad but also not my favorite book ever. It had a lot of possitive elements that I like in a book like this. I loved the vivid details about ancient Egypt and the chapters set in the 1800's were interesting too. If you're a big history fan, especially if you love ancient Egypt as much as I do, then I'd recommend it.

Your seatbelt needs to me on because your going on an interesting ride through time. This book is about the time during the rein of Tutankhamum, the boy king. It is about 2 different brothers. Two are those who prepared bodes for the afterlife. and two were grave robbers. As you read you will notice historical facts mixed with fiction. It's a story about good vs evil, greed, violence, riches and poverty. I gave this book 5 stars but wish I could give it more. I deserves more. This would make a great addition to your library or to any library's bookshelf. It also would make a great gift to give. Christmas is coming soon. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I look for more from Julie Bettendorf.

Read indepth accounts of the Honoring and Desecration of the Past Lives in Luxor, Egypt By Glenda Julie Bettendorf has taken her readers traveling before--to Egypt and to France with Anthony Ant! If you haven't checked out her children's books, click over to my reviews before you leave...This time, however, the author who is a world traveler with a background in history and a degree in archaeology, has written an adult story of ancient history, based upon the the Lives of those who lived in Egypt during two time periods--first in 1324 BC and then in 1874 AD. Bettendorf has chosen to write about the everyday ancient man, but in this story, they are all involved in the fascinating business of...death... Not how they died...but how they prepared their dead for the afterlife...or later destroyed their tombs...There was no doubt in the minds of ancient Egyptians that there was life after death. The entire process of preparing for death, especially for the pharaohs, who were considered almost gods with a connection to the gods that they worshiped, Amun-Ra, being the most powerful god of the sun. There was no real discrimination regarding the process itself--only the location and the after-life preparations for specific individuals, mostly based upon wealth of that individual.There are two main male characters for each of the time periods. The irony of it is that the two living in 1324 are priests who prepared the dead...While the two in 1874 are grave robbers, desecrating the bodies and stealing anything of value that were placed with the bodies of the deceased...Such a tragedy...Each of the time periods are essentially a separate adventure, except that there are parts that cross where the later group is involved in bodies that had been prepared by the priests. The book moves from time period to time period so that readers begin to see the great honor given to the dead by the Egyptians... Only to see later generations care nothing about the dead except as it may be used to make money! The town of Gourna had been built on top of many of the tombs of the past and is the setting for the later story.There is much historical data supporting the stories created by Bettendorf, and, of course, we are all aware of the reality of how the tombs of those who lived in the past were treated. However, the realism of facts combined with a fictional story of main characters involved with how bodies of those in the past have been treated, makes the book worthy of any lover of historical novels, fiction or not.Every once in awhile, the author slides in several short scenes that will stop you cold, wondering what it was that had been found... or, to listen as Anubis chastises a priest for becoming "too involved" in his work with the body preparation. All in all, this certainly brings readers a totally different perspective of the ancient times in Egypt and some truths about Tutankhamun that have recently been confirmed through autopsy...Given the continued interest in Egyptian history and all that it entails about past pharaohs, I believe this will be a must-read for some of you. I must admit I've always been intrigued by the architectural beauty in the country, but this novel certainly brings history to each and every reader in a unique and quite satisfying manner. About the Author Brian Mulipah’s life changed dramatically on Saturday, January 12, 2002, at 5pm. The low life alcoholic began his recovery from alcohol addiction. Though he had already tried giving up booze thousands of times, this time it was for good. “I couldn’t even finish the beer I had in my hand. I had to pour out all half of the bottle on the street pavement”. He dodged the first meeting with a new ecstasy-peddling business partner, and headed for rehab instead. Three months later, Brian found himself with this urge to help people who are hurting, disappointed and abused to find the results they need, so that they can live joyful and productive lives. Today, he is a missionary working with a missionary organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM). When he is not writing, and while serving on the mission field, he enjoys mountain climbing, travelling, and hanging out at coffee-shops. You will usually find him wearing blue jeans and a red baseball cap.

This book is written for women. However, men could benefit from it as well. There are powerful scriptures and intervention principles throughout the workbook. I would recommend this book to especially those who are in a marriage that needs some major and immediate improvement.

But in a world where many people have nothing more to offer than their good name, Eunice Boeve has created a hero we want to follow from page one. Josh's relationships with an assortment of characters--from the kindly Pete Waters who becomes a surrogate father to the boy, to the lovely Belle whom Josh loves as a young man--keeps the reader hanging on for more. As Josh pursues his mother's killer, he rides a 'shadowed trail' where life doesn't always turn out the way you expected. I, for one, greatly looked forward to the sequel.

In this action-packed journey, the lessons of life and love are oftentimes learned the hard way, and as Josh becomes a man of integrity and worth, he discovers that blood is NOT always thicker than water. The reader will be thoroughly engaged by the story's authenticity. The author writes with emotion, clarity, and a true knowledge and understanding of the era that can only come from someone whose roots are in the West.

What it is, simply, is a compilation of works from various artists of snoopy and the gang. I am a huge fan and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am posting some clips of the artwork for you all too.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. not a dry eye in the house By Robert Plautz don't even hesitate or second-guess whether you should buy this, whether it will somehow skew your memories of Peanuts, or whatever—this book is a gift of deep and true love to the Master, rich with art and story. tears came to my eyes on almost every page. just one quote from the back section, "From the Contributors," from an amazing artist himself: "I love everything about Peanuts. There was always something about the Holiday Special's very simple color palette that perfectly defined the atmosphere of that season for me." Dustin Nguyen. These artists were inspired to their respective cores by Charles M. "Sparky" Schulz. thank you, kaboom!

By Zorro Wow--this book far exceeded my expectations-- this was very funny and showed the creativity of these great artist and their admiration of Peanuts...I literally laughed out loud at some of the strips! My only wish is that it was even bigger!!
