This book was recommended to me by a friend By Jen This book was recommended to me by a friend, after I talked with her about our mutual friend who is having trouble in her marriage. I am going to visit this mutual friend this weekend, and, since she is a devout Christian (and I am not), I wanted to see if I could lend any help while talking to her. I really enjoyed reading this book and thought that the advice that the author gave was great. I like that the author, though giving God as an answer, also notes that He doesn’t make miracles happen overnight, and that the two people involved in the marriage have to be willing to make things work. I also like that the author says that, with the examples given in this book to try to save the marriage, every situation is different. And, because of this, people need to look at their own situations and perhaps tweak the answers in the book a bit to fit the needs of the two people involved. I thought that was a really practical approach. This book was really well thought out and honestly, I thought the ideas given for helping the marriage could be applicable in any relationship (after reading it, I thought that I may need to use some of the communication advice for my relationship with my mom). It is a great resource to have, no matter who you are, or with whom you are having relationship difficulties.

All married couples should read this brilliant book By Hammy I have been married for five years and my relationship with my wife have seen many ups and downs. I think, married life is very different where you have to learn a lot of things in order to maintain a good relationship with your partner. Usually, people start their married life without getting prepared about it and soon the dream of an ideal married life becomes a nightmare.This book may be short but it touches all the important aspects of married life and offer useful guidance. I am really impressed the way Jamie Monroe explained everything beautifully and drew the attention of the reader to sensitive yet important aspects of married life in a very professional way.It can be said without the shadow of any doubt that all married couples should read this book in order to save their relationships and ensure to make it successful.

It tells you exactly the importance of faith in your marriage and how to rebuild your faith together through your marriage. The big issue here is learning how to get to know your partner again. How often people get married and then after a short time you don't see your partner as you once did. You need to learn to know them once again.Finally, the Jamie hits on the importance of communication over isolation and getting your love stoked again. This is a a great resource for taking your stale or ok marriage and really giving it a boost. This is a wonderful resource you won't want to miss.

About the Author Harris “Hershey” Rosen, a graduate of Harvard, has focused on controlling chaos since 1954. First, as Financial Control Officer in the U.S. Army, where he received a Letter of Commendation for improvement to its worldwide accounting system. Next, on to satisfying everyone’s sweet tooth, he ran a candy company for 40 years, developing a system for locating ANY item housed in five factories, covering 600,000 sq. ft. Following “retirement,” Hershey went on to become a mediator and settled over 200 disputes for the State of Rhode Island and The Community Mediation Center of Rhode Island. He was also asked to team-teach management courses at the University of Rhode Island, where he enthusiastically challenged the text book with real-life experience, to the delight and edification of the students. Always passionate about assisting others, Hershey has been the director or trustee of numerous boards and organizations. Tener You may find other books that help you record computer passwords, bank account information and other important things but this book goes way beyond, including contact information on all the people you depend on to take care of your house and other affairs, all the upkeep you need to do on your home and other information your partner or family may not know if you were not around.This is the kind of book you buy more than one of! I bought one for my dad to put together his household records and one for my husband and I to fill out for each other.Don't wait for a health crisis, though. Fill it out while you have plenty of time and don't feel pressured--before anyone in your family is in failing health.

By Rex Leonowicz This text is an extremely detailed guide that helps you and your financial managers, record keepers, etc. to maintain and manage your personal information so that end-of-life arrangements run very smoothly. The genius behind this book is that it's designed not only to help you remain organized and up-to-speed on keeping all of your effects in order, but it's also extremely helpful for any family members/survivors to use in concordance with your final documents, etc. The grief of loss is hard enough without having to deal with everything that goes into executing wills, dealing with properties personal effects, finances, etc. What's so helpful about this book is it not only provides file-form examples, it allows you to explain in-depth where assets come from, how to access them, the ins-and-outs of payments, etc. It's meant to help you keep yourself organized and keep your loved ones (and anyone employed to help) well-informed and on-task, as well.It's also interspersed with humorous comics, explanations and anecdotes that stress the importance of keeping organized in this way, and helpful tips for how to write and upkeep your guide to your information.It outlines what you need to do step-by-step in the event of a loved one's death and offers a helpful timeline of tasks that need to be dealt with, from who to first call, how to deal with funeral arrangements, how to communicate with your job, to how to figure out who is entitled to what. With death being often such a difficult shock, it's very important to have a book like this to help you keep prepared in advance so that relatives can make arrangements easily. A guide like this makes a really stressful, daunting reality much more feasible to tackle. The fact that the guide itself is so expansive in its reach is also really impressive. So Happy to Know EVERYTHING I Need to Tell My Family - SO EASY By Tracy Hart It's so hard to know and remember everything that needs to be conveyed to my family, but this book covers it all! I like that led me to write out "why" I'd made some decisions. And to have an online app that I can use to record most of the info. - so easy. I like that I can go back and fill things in after I've had a chance to think things over or gather documents for info. that I need. (Also will probably use info. in book on downsizing!)

Jones III "Les Chouans is Honoré de Balzac's first "real" novel; he had previously published "pot boilers" under pseudonyms. It was published in 1829, following his multi-month stay the previous year, gathering background material, in Fougeres, in eastern Brittany. The novel is set in 1799, 10 years after the commencement of the French Revolution. It was the year that France, exhausted from the violence and excesses of the Revolution, embraced a "strong-man" savior, named Napoleon. But there was still not peace in the Brittany region, which contained strong Catholic and Royalist sentiment. The Vendée had been in revolt, and continued sporadic fighting since 1793. "Les Chouans" were followers of a rebel (i.e., anti-republican) leader, Jean Chouan, and they allied themselves with forces in the Vendée.The two principal protagonists in this novel are Mlle. Marie de Verneuil and Marquis de Montauran, also known as "Le Gars." She is devastatingly beautiful, and as we learn much later, the "natural" daughter of an aristocrat. She is working for the Republican Chief of Police, Joseph Fouché (who would trump Machiavelli many fold in his devious and self-serving use of power), and has been sent to entrap Le Gars. In the process however - quelle suprise - she falls in (and out) of love with the man. There are a host of minor characters who plot and counterplot, cross, and double-cross each other, which seems to be the nature of war, particularly of the so-called "civil" variety, and also, alas, as the cynics would say, love too. Indeed, "hell hadth no fury like a woman scorned" is one of the themes also.The first section of the book is entitled "L'embuscade." In it, Republican (Bleu) forces, who are leading a group of reluctant conscripts from Brittany to go fight in the wars against the other European countries which are trying to end the revolution, and are ambushed by Les Chouans, led by a youthful aristocrat. As an aside, I'd love to know if there is any evidence that Balzac inspired Faulkner, who commenced The Unvanquished: The Corrected Text with a chapter on an ambush, with similar themes of regional forces, in a losing game, trying to resist the stronger, central forces of the state. Comments are welcome.For me, the strongest portions of the book are Balzac's evocative descriptions of the Brittany countryside, often enveloped in fog and mist. The author describes some walks in the woods that I'd love to repeat. Indeed, he has placed the "off the beaten path" town of Fougeres on the map as a "must-see" destination. He also describes effectively why the hedgerows of Brittany are ideal for "guerilla warfare." And by setting the novel in 1799 he helps illuminate a "cusp" period of French history, the transition from the Revolutionary period to the Napoleonic one. And Balzac had some "digs" at the political use of religion.But lawdy, the downside to the novel is immense. The action resembles a poorly written "soap opera." The dialogue is all too often stilted and tedious. The characters seem to be made out of cardboard. Revealing the living conditions and attitudes of the Chouans, through the seemingly random wanderings of de Verneuil, during a time of insecurity in the countryside, was a mechanism riddled with implausibilites, particularly when she rescued the "miser," by scaring his torturers by feigning to be a ghost. And the owl, as a harbinger of misfortune, was likewise overplayed. Equally, the motivation of other characters for particular actions was either poorly explained, or non-existent. It was hard for me to believe this was written by the same man who produced the excellent Le Pere Goriot (Petits Classiques Larousse Texte Integral) (French Edition) and Eugénie Grandet: Scènes de la vie de Province. (French Edition). Fortunately for Balzac, as well as ourselves, there were many tomorrows after today, unlike the untimely demise of the protagonists, and I'd advise concentrating on his "tomorrows."As for his first real novel, I found the almost 500 pages a thinly rewarding slog. 3-stars.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. It's my first Balzac By A Customer I don't find it dissapointing at all. I actually enjoyed reading it, although it started in a quite boring way. I love all books that reffer to the French Revolution or to the Napoleonic era, like War and Peace, Les Miserables etc. The style didn't look wonderful, but the plot was very interesting and the characters well drawn.

4 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Essential "military life" aspect of full Human Comedy By Christopher Nelson This is Balzac's first Human Comedy novel, I believe, and it shows. I should probably give it 3.5 stars, but since it's Balzac, I'll say 4. I actually found the story captivating enough to pull me all the way through (the 2nd attempt...). There are dry, and lenghty parts (only three chapter breaks), but it's a unique novel. The Chouans takes place during the Napoleonic, post Revolutionary period when there are continuing civil battles between the new Rupublicans and the ancien regime, Royalists (which include the northen province Chouans). There is a lot of historical value to this novel in how Balzac displays the sentiments of the two sides, and various military personalities' views on the direction of government, and France in particular. As with most history, some modern parallels may even be drawn (i.e. conservative vs. liberal views on how a country should be run; conscription, and occupied peoples).I really liked how Balzac took this piece of French history, actually visited and lived in the locals used as background, and created an interesting (albeit a dated 19th century romance)story out of it all. It's all a matter of taste I suppose, but if you really want to get into Balzac (a worthy endeavor for any serious student of the novel, literature, and the history of the 19th century) than the Chouans is as good a starting point as any. It would've been interesting to see what other Scenes de la militaire Balzac might have come up with had he lived long enough.All in all, there are great (and mediocre) character portraits, and I think Mlle. Verneuil is well done, actually. It's fun (in a colorfully "romantic" kind of way), mysterious, historical, and . . . well, it's BALZAC.

This, his first book, was intended as he writes “To do what a "Greatest Hits" record does for a band: (1) to introduce new people to the best of the blog and (2) catch up current fans up on quality content they have missed.” His heartbeat for the book is to have “God to plant us beside streams of living water, and for our roots to soak up the encouragement and hope the Scriptures offer us in Christ.”The articles included flow from Halloran’s personal Scripture reading, struggles in faith, struggles in life, and professional work with both Unlocking the Bible (a radio and online ministry) and Leadership Resources International (a missions organization that equips pastors to faithfully exposit the Scriptures).Similar to the prayers from The Valley of Vision, Halloran includes a few prayers mixed in with the articles adding to the devotional experience.I highlighted many passages in my copy of the book. As I revisit those passages they include themes of prayer, anxiety, faith and work, materialism and contentment, battling sin, how Jesus relates to the Old Testament, social media, leadership, persecution and how to read the Psalms.The author also includes a few recommended resources at the end of the book, which can be read in one sitting, or devotionally, reading one article a day. I highly recommend this short book as an introduction to Kevin Halloran and his ministry. He is a young man who is already doing great things for the kingdom.

His eBook, Word + Life : 20 Reflections on Prayer, the Christian Life, and the Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ is the best of his best.It’s a short book, so one could gulp it down in one sitting if they so choose to, but I think you will get the greatest benefit from it by treating it as a daily devotional, where you read a short chapter and then meditate on what you’ve learned. You can also use each of the 20 chapters of the book as a personal or group bible study. However you choose to use it, if you’re like me you’ll want to keep it handy so you can read it over and over again.

This ebloog effectively delivers healthy Christian worldview on the title based reflections. Wakes and reminds of fundamental Christian mindsets for best and God glorifying Christian living.
