By Bookish An educational book about emotions could easily slip into being didactic, overly sentimental or outright boring. I'm happy to say that's not the case with Renee Jain's The Very Emotional Alphabet. Kids will learn to identify emotions but also be entertained by the story and illustrations. Jain gets bonus points for not trying to force her story in awkward rhymes, like many self-published books. This is the standard all self-published authors should strive for. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised to walk in a bookstore and find The Very Emotional Alphabet there among other currently published books.Regarding the illustrations, WOW! Rebecca Bagley's awesome artwork is amazing and looks like what you'd find if you picked up a book by a major publishing house. Her style is detailed and captures each emotion, ensuring that kids will want to read this book again and again. After finishing the book, I immediately paged back through to look at all the illustrated animals again (and will return to look for details I may have missed).Hooray, I say, with joyful kudos to Renee and Rebecca!FYI: I do not know either author nor illustrator; my glowing review is simply excitement and appreciation for their book.

I shared it with my five-year-old granddaughter and she wanted me to reread it to her right away! Naming emotions is such an important element of social education these days. This little book is a cool way to talk about emotions.I tried to vary my voice tone and expression for each emotion, and my granddaughter had fun trying to imitate me.

Of jealousy within a family, of a father's jealousy over his wife,'s love for the children, the mother's jealousy over her best-loved child, the male member's jealousy over the females and vice versa, the mother's jealousy of the women who come to love her son's but biggest of all is the jealousy between twin boys for the love of the same girl. Parents grow older and die and sons grow older and become fathers. But the twins father one son between them never knowing which is the one true father. It's a tangled sordid affair, a woman who loved dearly but only receives rape in return. The child lives in the house as a son of the house but is never rightfully claimed, but perhaps the family ends with this boy who puts the passion, jealousy, adventure and love into something more positive now that it has destroyed all but him. A literary family drama told with such intensity you can feel the heat rising from the pages; I always love the art from this team and the b/w splashes across the pages with emotion. I would love to read the novel this graphic was adapted from.

With the help of an old high school boyfriend and her cousin, Carly chains herself to the tree and makes it her home for weeks during her protest to save the environment. In the meanwhile, Carly's niece, Allison, begins a school project which entails writing to a pen pal in Scotland. Her pen pal is a lad named Logan, who is wheelchair bound. The boy's uncle, Duncan, works every year as an electrician at an annual event called the Enchanted Forest. The forest in Pitlochry, Scotland is transformed into a magic place with colored lights and music, story tellers and costumed fairies. The event brings tourists from all over the world. The forest and the trees are very important to Duncan. He and Carly both have an affinity for nature and a love of green growing things. Now with her niece and his nephew they have a connection which just might bring them together.

A book about honesty and perseverance, about love and dedication.There is one thing I don’t understand: part of the story is set in Scotland with Scottish characters, so why is all the time Duncan calling Logan “boyo” if that word is not Scottish but Irish?Apart from that and several typos and words being written twice, the book is really enjoyable and a good reading for all ages.
