The Last Pew is the story of a young, single Christian woman who for most of her life lived a pure, wholesome, spiritual, and obedient existence. Upon moving to a new city and beginning her career as an educator, on the job she encounters a young unhappily married man who also happens to be a minister at a local Baptist church. Throughout a 2 year period of the two working together, she is courted; they fall in love, and commit to a life and relationship of immorality and sin. The narrative essentially tells the love story of the two. It shows how two people who know God intimately and have been doing God's will for so long can eventually walk down a path of spiritual destruction. The story illustrates the reasons that enabled the young woman's spiritual judgment to decline in order for this relationship to even take place. Moreover, the story shows the spiritual steps that the young woman had to take in order to be freed from the affair. The story clearly shows the power of God's Grace, Mercy, Forgiveness, and the true capacity of Prayer and Fasting. The Last Pew is an important story because it is an account on adultery which certainly is a muzzled issue within the Christian community. The story is an honest, transparent and appropriate narrative written with the hopes of providing its reader with a different take of who the other woman is. It is proof that the other woman can in fact be a woman of God who got lost while on her walk with Christ. At its core, The Last Pew is a story of redemption and finding purpose after sin. The title, The Last Pew, symbolizes how far the narrator was from God's altar and His will. But the story is a reminder that God's love can always allow for any lost soul to move back to the front of His altar. The end of the book serves as a workbook for struggling women coming out of their affair. There is a chapter devoted to points and scriptures to guide women through the process of their healing. The end of the book closes with an open letter to any woman who has had to deal with infidelity within her own marriage. A riveting testimony and a biblical based workbook, TLP is a resource for all women. Though adultery is a silent story within the Church, it certainly is a reality for many Christians, making this a conversation one that needs to be had. Whether the person reading this story is a woman trying to come out of an affair, a wife trying to heal from learning about an extra-marital affair, or a man of God that is caught in the middle---this book will minister.

Review "A powerful, transparent and hard topic to speak upon, adultery, written by the "other woman". Not only adultery, but with a man that is speaking the Word of God to His people, a pastor. In this candid message, Sophia shares her downfall and temptations openly and honestly, yet gives men and women the tools needed to avoid such temptation, as well as tools for healing, deliverance and restoration for those that have fallen into it. A NOW message for those in the Church, Believers in Christ Jesus, as this topic has all but been pushed under the rug for generations..."- Hunter Heart PublishingWe all have truths, and by that I mean we all have a set of experiences that make us who we are. These truths have been influenced by our families, friends, relationships, and the many ebbs and flows of life. You have just opened a book that will, in many ways, push you to acknowledge, own, and accept your truth, the truth of someone you love, or possibly even the truth of a stranger. I am constantly reminded that the process of acknowledging, owning, and accepting our truths can be difficult, but extremely rewarding. I invite you to start, or continue, this process as you read, The Last Pew-Journeying Back to God's Will After an Affair (TLP). I am hopeful that the raw vulnerability and honesty in the pages to follow will speak to you profoundly, no matter your reason for picking up this book. --Tasha M. Brown, M.A.
From the Author What if every thought that you had, you suppressed because you deemed it the right thing to do? What kind of adult becomes the "good girl", the "a-sexual one", "the virtuous one?", "the maternal one"? What dangerous things does she act out in adulthood when she is grown up in the imaginary cage that she created for herself? How do the perceptions of ourselves contribute to the contaminated relationships that we encounter and then fall into? For many women, living a secret life and engaging in a secret love is real life. And aside from how the world casts these women out or portray them in the sensationalized media, so many fragile, hurting, misplaced, and misguided women are desperately fighting to survive-- to survive their shame, their ache, and their loss of self as they love a man that they know, they should not. Where do these women go? Who do they confide in? Who covers them? The church dismisses them. Their loved ones marginalize them. And society berates them. This adds a whole new thick coating of pain and humiliation. I speak on this because I know what it is like to have fallen in love with a man who wears a wedding band, while I do not. I speak on this because I know what it is like to be so isolated from every single loved one in my call log because the shame runs that deep and is that real. I speak on this because I know how insane it feels to constantly try to get out of a relationship that seems to have no end-point. I speak on this because I know that Jesus still saves. He still saves and preserves and uses and redeems the "mistress", and "the other woman", and "her" because He did it for me. "The Last Pew: Journeying Back to God's Will After an Affair" is not a blame game. It's not a story on the "bad guy" vs. "the good girl", or vice versa. It's an honest recount of confusion, love, mess, grace, sin, shame, backsliding, healing, circles, secrets, cycles, mercy, lust, emotions, healing, forgiveness, relationships, and closure. Though you may not identify with having an affair or your spouse having one, surely you can identify with at least one of those entities, if not all. Together as a conglomerate, they simply form the human experience. My experience. On the low, so many people's experience, particularly in the pulpit and in the Church. I invite you to begin your healing, whatever that may be. Or perhaps, you are taking my invitation to experience an anecdote about someone else's healing. I don't mean to give the story away, but I promise you, she makes it out alive and well. With God, all endings are good. Happy reading to you! Thank you for your openness and your support. In His Will, Sophia Sunshine Vilceus

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A bold & transparent look at adultery within the Church By D. G. Hunter The Last Pew is not a "drama-filled" message full of controversy, but an inspiring and transparent message from the "other woman" caught in an adulterous affair with a local pastor. Sophia shares how she fell in love with the idea of being loved, yet was led to repentance, forgiveness, redemption and restoration. This book shares a very real issue within the Church today, but also provides a way of escape and healing not only for those in the pews, but those in our pulpits. I chose to publish this book for Sophia, because it was a message needed to bring healing & deliverance to so many caught in the traps of silence and hidden fear. A MUST READ for all Believers and every church should have such books in their church bookstores to help those that are "silently" seeking answers.

Sophia's courageous testimony give you a look into what it is like to be the "other woman." It helps to give an understanding of the internal struggle that Sophia and other women in her position must deal with.
