I was waiting with anticipation to read this sequel to Turnover, because I was so involved with the characters and circumstances in the first book in this series. Although TurnAround is the second book of two, it can be read on its own. However I am glad that I read the first one because it gave a lot of background that was helpful to understanding the events that had already happened in the first book, in more detail. TurnAround begins with two of the main characters from the first book, Mare and Paul, who are hiding out in Amish country, coming once again under the scrutiny of a person who apparently wants them dead. He narrowly misses finding them, so they decide they must leave there so as not to endanger the Amish friends who gave them shelter. They head back into the maelstrom of danger in Washington, D. C., and hook up with, Pete Clancy, a former higher up in the NIS who has been retired, not necessarily by choice, and is now freelancing as an investigator. Due to his connections, he therefore is someone who can help them look into the plot which originally put them in danger and he hires them to help him do so. It involves political scandal and manipulation, voter fraud, murder, and danger to many political figures in high places. This keeps the pace moving along quickly and held my interest throughout the book. It truly makes one think about how our government runs and how little we know the ins and outs that do and should matter so much to us as citizens. The author, John Warren, shows that he has knowledge of his subject matter and challenges the reader to think beyond the norm while still holding their interest in the mystery. I read this book with great enjoyment and it did keep me guessing as to the resolution of matters which could have had grave consequences to the nation.

By Dennis I have read both Turnover and TurnAround, and they were both terrific. They work as stand alone projects as well as a series. Perhaps we will get a third in the series? Mr. Warren's latest work, TurnAround, is a political thriller that held me spellbound--I read it in two days--just couldn't put it down! I was not expecting the ending at all--so refreshing. I will anxiously await the third installment.
