About the Author Stanley C. Brown graduated from Northwestern University majoring in U. S. history and went on to achieve a Master of Divinity from Garrett Theological Seminary. He was active as a United Methodist minister for forty-two years and with his family became a resident of Arizona in 1958. This began a love affair with the state's rich past and a vital interest in the cultural conflicts which mark the story of the Southwest. He is married to Ruth and they have three children, thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
