Real Stories and Requests from Those Who Mourn By Professional Student I thoroughly enjoyed this brief yet potent read about the natural process of grieving. This book gives insight for greater empathy by exploring personal experiences of others going through their own unique journeys of grief. The author encourages us as she reminds us that the process time for grief depends on a person's individual meanings of the loss. She gently reminds that support means understanding the sadness rather than removing the sadness. This book also encourages loved ones of the grieving that true comfort comes from listening and understanding what the person feels and why they feel those emotions. I recommend this book to those who are grieving for normalizing their grief process, to the loved ones of the grieving for aiding in understanding the individuality of grief, and to counselors who may use this book as a means of discussion with exploring client meanings of the grief process related to the topics and stories of this book.

One of her favorite songs comes on the radio, or I see someone who reminds me of her. I can't remember at the moment any insensitive comments, though most people dropped off or weren't particularly supportive after the first week or two. One of the sweetest things was the neighbor of my in laws read my moms obituary, realized it was my mom and sent me a card in the mail.If I recall correctly me specifically, got three cards (which are important to me). One from my In-laws neighbor, my pastor, and my brother and sister-in-law from out of state sent me cards. At the memorial we probably got some joint cards for my siblings and I but I don't remember. It doesn't have to say anything, just a hallmark card with your signature is better then nothing. Bringing food is a great idea. A couple people gave us food when my mom was close to passing away. That meant a lot to us.
