About the Author Fran Rybarik became a writer in 2004, following careers as a nurse educator and a mom. She has been published in regional magazines, anthologies, e-zines, newsletters and health education materials. Fran never thought she would write a book, but when she began sharing the stories created by David's ashes, people said, "You should write a book. It would help others who are grieving, too." A thoughtful and positive read, sure to leave you better than you were when you began By Amazon Customer This book is a thoughtful and positive examination of the growth that can come from loss. While Rybarik does not shy away from describing painful experiences, she does so in a way that leaves the reader uplifted and empowered. The book made me more consciously aware of my own life and the relationships within it. It also caused me to ponder the sort of legacy that I would like to leave behind. It is a wonderful read, sure to leave you better than you were when you began.

As a former bereavement specialist, Rybarik contrasts the experts’ stages of grief to the personal experience of sudden loss. Despite her nurse’s training she is swiftly thrown into the position of a recipient of grief counseling rather than the provider. In her writing, readers find unique answers to common questions following loss: How will he be remembered? Did he make a difference? Does anybody care? For David (and for Fran) the questions are clearly answered through the 10 years of adventures since David’s death, provided by family and friends. Although it is clear, everyone grieves differently, Fran’s heartfelt, honest account of David’s life after death is uplifting and a source of inspiration. As a widow, Rybarik found a life alone can be full despite the rugged path, and for her, achieved through her dogged capacity to reach out and plan for better days.
