This book is about how to heal the aspects that unconsciously get in the way for people to enjoy healthy relationships. In general, your attachment unconsciously determines your thoughts, needs, emotions …so in the same way that people can’t just stop drinking or using drugs, in the same way people can’t just follow the advice from a book. That would be great! We need some preparation work, so you don’t end up defeated or more frustrated. Enjoyable, Informative and Thought-Provoking By EC If you are interested in connecting with other human beings in effective and satisfying ways, then understanding something about what psychologists call “attachment” and the role it plays in your relationships will be helpful — maybe essential. Ms. Kirk’s book is a fine — and enjoyable! — way to acquire this understanding and maybe, along the way, learn something important that you didn't know about yourself.

By Amazon Customer After years of bad relationships, uncomfortable breakups, and serious heartbreak, I wanted to understand the question no one seems to have an answer to - what is a healthy relationship?I accidentally stumbled across this book, which in the first few pages, provided the elegant solution to the problem I had paid therapists to solve for close to a decade:"Needs in a relationship are equal."This insight was mind boggling; it required an introspection and self love we aren't naturally equipped with. I had to ask myself, for the first time in life: "What are my needs?", "What needs do I need another person to meet for me?", "How can I get my needs elsewhere if my partner cannot provide them?" Suddenly, I needed to sit with myself and think about who I was as a human, and what kinds of emotional things I need to be happy.The author doesn't provide some "Meaning of Christmas Story" answer on how to cultivate better relationships in your life. Kirk is clear that it isn't about not "finding the 'right' one yet" or not "falling in love". She intelligently de romanticizes romance, writing that good relationships aren't spontaneous, they aren't easy - it takes work.Though this work, which she provides steps for in her book, can be difficult and at times overwhelming, this book offers a message of hope - you CAN have fulfilling relationships. You CAN have healthy dynamics with another human, and you CAN feel more fulfilled with yourself while doing it.If you are tired of chasing bad relationships and want to get to the bottom of yourself and others, read this book.Highly recommend.

Enhance Your Couple Connection By Seasoned Couple Therapist I have been a couple therapist for over twenty years, and have longed for a pithy book such as this one that encourages couples to consider with compassion both their own and their partner's attachment style without overwhelming them with psychological theory. Finally Mr. Kirk has delivered an accessible book that supports conflicted couples in refocusing their attention on the only one in the relationship either one can do anything about -- him or herself! This e-book provides tools for each member of a couple to build self-awareness and encourages the reader to be curious about what may be motivating their partner's difficult/triggered behaviors; this is helpful not to support cheap forgiveness but rather to encourage self and relationship care at a deeper level than most couples who show up in my office have any clarity or awareness about! Strongly recommended for couples or singles reflecting on relationship travails and wanting to establish better intimate relationship. If you fit that description check it out!
