Diane Rose Duffy has done it again! And just what has she done, you ask? Why, she has created absolute, utter perfection, of course! Love Heals the Heart is Duffy's second amazing offering in the mad, mad world of the ever growing, very competitive and over populated contemporary romance genre but it is most definitely, second to none in content and quality. It takes the blue ribbon by a landslide and is most assuredly a grand prize winner for her readers! After reading her amazing first release, Take a Piece of My Heart, I thought I would never be able to say this but Love Heals the Heart is even more incredible than her first novel and that, folks, is not an impression; it's a simple fact! I haven't laughed this much while reading a book since....wait....since never! I started laughing on page one and uncontrollably snorted, snickered, giggled, chuckled, howled and uproariously belly-laughed through the entire book with a few heartfelt tears, sadness and sobbing thrown in for good measure. She has become one of my favorite authors and I am a fan for life!!! The story is exciting, well developed, well executed, suspenseful, enchanting, humorous, cute, sweet, heartwarming, heartbreaking, romantic, sensual and arousing. The dialogue is smart, witty, seductive, exceptionally well written and flows effortlessly. Whew! That's a mouthful but these are only a few of the words that come to mind after reading this novel. But my favorite part is the characters because this is very much a character driven story. They are remarkably well developed, strong, clever, captivating, intriguing, engaging, endearing, relatable, sexy as sin and more often than not, laugh out loud funny. Va..Va..Voom! Duffy's characters are always the very heart and soul of her stories. Duffy exhibits her amazing talent and skill by expertly combining these elements into an alluring and delightfully entertaining modern romance/comedy/crime drama filled to the brim with tragedy, suspense, heartbreak, adventure, attraction, passion, joy and sweet, true love. I loved it! So dreamy! Sigh..... If you love a seductive contemporary romance seasoned throughout with sexy, snarky dialogue, peppered with a liberal measure of fun-filled, rollicking humor and generously flavored with strong, intelligent characters with a quick wit and a sharp tongue, then you will surely enjoy Love Heals the Heart!When first grade teacher, Gracie Watson is hoodwinked by her brother, Doug, into accompanying her best friend, Trish, on a camping trip, she never expected to flash handsome police detective, Dylan Sanders, contract a raging case of poison ivy, land in the middle of a drug raid, begin a journey of a lifetime and certainly never, ever dreamed that it would ultimately result in her meeting the love of her life. There is certainty in my heart about this. You may call it intuition, hope, or even determination. Never in my life had I experienced an instant attraction such as this. I'll admit it fightened me, but the fear was overshadowed by curiosity and eagerness. This book has it all!Gracie is a first grade teacher that has always dreamed about finding the perfect man that just gives her "the look" and she's a puddle of goo on the floor. It's a hilarious meet-cute:)"He is the living, breathing picture of what most women would refer to as, man candy. By Xkoqueen Love Heals the Heart is Diane Rose Duffy’s second novel (she has also published at least one children’s book). I had the pleasure of listening to the audio version of this book. It’s a charming and funny contemporary romance with a little adventure thrown in for good measure.Gracie Watson is a lifelong resident of her small town in Northern California. She leads a relatively quiet life while trying to avoid any more scandal than her divorce has already brought on. Being a first-grade teacher, she has to be careful about that sort of thing! I loved Gracie’s sense of humor. I could imagine her smirking with her snarky inner dialog. Gracie is a totally relatable character; she’d be a great friend--unless your idea of a good time is hiking and camping. She’s more of the spa and shopping type.Dylan Sanders is a detective in a neighboring town. He’s a good-looking guy who attracts a lot of attention from women, but he’s had disastrous luck in the past and avoids relationships as a result. He feels safer just focusing on his job.Secondary characters Trish and Justin, are Gracie’s and Dylan’s best friends, respectively. Both have strong personalities, and both are the sorts you want to have in your corner. Their feisty exchanges are fun; their attraction to each other is obvious to everyone but themselves.Love Heals the Heart is fun and adventurous from Gracie’s and Dylan’s embarrassing first meeting to the end. How would you feel if you met a gorgeous guy while taking care of nature’s call in the woods? This book is filled with snark, humor, adventure and romance. The fun doesn’t stop at that first meeting, but Love Heals the Heart has more going on then just humor. Gracie and Dylan both carry a lot of baggage that becomes a hurdle for an intimate relationship. They have to overcome and overlook a lot and take the giant leap of faith in one another.
