From the Author A Guide to teenage depression was written because I found a lot of Parents are in the dark. These Parents do not know their child is battling with depression until they overdose on medication, or may sometime find a note the child left in their room ...a call for help. Numerous stories of Parents thinking it's "the teenage phase" and it will pass. These adolescents stated to me that usually parent make the situation worse if told because they're not in school ...Left with no adult supervision unless in class Bullying, cyber bullying is fair game. There are some teens with cultural background that prevent them from bring up mental illness. They feel the only person they have to depend on themselves...if parent confront school bully, bullying become worse. I wanted for Parent to understand from the kids point why it's important to listen to hidden signs. Teenage depression, secret a simple Guide may be the start to more research on your child depression.
About the Author Patrice Foster's life reads like an adventure novel that might have been entitled, "Journey to Respect'. Born in Jamaica West Indies, she and her five siblings were abandoned when her mother fled to America to escape her abusive husband, who then later abandoned his children. Patrice and her siblings were placed in foster homes and subsequently shuffled from one uncaring and abusive family to the next. Entrusted to the care of an uncle, young Patrice became close with an American missionary in the hopes of communicating with her mother in America. When Patrice was twelve, she and her siblings were finally reunited with their mother, but it was not the happy reunion of their dreams. Obligated to find other living arrangements, the situation eventually deteriorated until Patrice ran away to live with their father. After finding herself locked out one day, Patrice became homeless and struggled to survive. Her life on the streets was a dangerous and discouraging time, yet despite her hopeless situation, she managed to finish school and moved to New Jersey where she entered an LPN program 1986. After graduating, she relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she furthered her career by becoming an RN in 1998. She continued her education by pursuing a BSN program at Immaculate University.

Excellently researched and put together for an easy reading experience that may save your teens’ life. I highly recommend this to all parents and I believe this should be given out to teachers in high schools so that our kids are covered at home and school, it never hurts to keep a watchful eye. By Eric It is terrifyingly common to see reports to young teenagers taking their own lives in our current world. Having worked in a busy city as an EMT I unfortunately had the privilege of working with multiple young people who attempted to harm themselves over a variety of reasons. This book does an excellent job at explaining what depression is, the causes of it, the variety of types, and touches on how to help those in need. I am pleased to see that the author took the time to include so many supporting links of statistics and articles, it really strengthened her book. In addition, Foster included information touching on Cyber bullying which is becoming more and more prevalent as our kids grow up with the internet and its crazy ability to communicate and disseminate pictures/messages. Suicide is a horrendous thing to have to deal with for everyone. I feel that this book is extremely effective and will hopefully help save a child’s life in the future.
