This series is finished By Paulo de Vissec This series - as pointed out by at least one other reviewer - has completely lost direction, and credibility. The plots now are far from being believable in the context of European Middle Ages. It's a pity: while in the beginning of the series there were nice historical fiction books - even if they had a touch of fantasy - it's difficult now to define the genre of the more recent books. Not only that. The plot in this particular book, The Song of the Nightingale, is confusing and very uninteresting. I would have given it zero stars, if that was possible.

I really enjoy the developing relationship of the main characters, and the addition of the next generation. Since Eleaor of Aquitaine is my favorite historical figure (and ancestress) I enjoy Helewise's connection with her. The forest people are just fanciful enough without going overboard. There have been some great stories in this series, including this one.

White I thought the series ended with the last book so I was very happily surprised to see a new one on my recommended page...it doesn't disappoint, and in fact, found it as compelling and wonderful as the other books in the series...what a treat to be able to revisit these characters....enjoy!
